  1. The best learn process according to Piaget is constructivism, and a great technological tool that helps to develop this process is WebQuests, this tool as said by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest can be designed to help enhance students’ technological competencies. Besides, Teachers can use this strategy to use as reading content and work in their level of understanding. Moreover, students can implement this tool research a topic deeply to complete an assignment given by the teacher. The WebQuest is a technique that teachers can use to develop students’ participation in meaningful discussions, engagement in role play simulations, and solving problems.

  2. According to the video a WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the Internet. So, creating a WebQuest is such a great idea nowadays if you want your students to work by themselves while the teacher provides the necessary resources from the internet and also he/ she monitors their work. Furthermore, according to the reading WebQuest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest), “WebQuests provide a practical way for students to acquire information, debate issues, participate in meaningful discussions, engage in role play simulations, solve problems, and, perhaps most importantly, become connected and involved learners”. In other words, when using WebQuests in the classrooms you are guiding students into an active-learning process; for this reason is why teachers have to research about all the important aspects and details they want to include in the WebQuest in order to encourage students into this activity which will guarantee a lot of success to the teacher and the students if it is done correctly.
I have never used a WebQuest in my class because I did not know anything about this tool, this is the first time I heard about it and from now on it has to be in my list of tools that I have to implement in my class in order to support the topics studied in class.
As a teacher I will use a WebQuest in different ways, for example:
    • When studying the topic holidays and celebrations I will create a WebQuest in which students reinforce the different celebrations around the world with a variety of activities for them to learn in an active way, for example: an activity in which they compare Costa Rica’ celebration with the celebrations of English speaking countries.
    • When studying sports a WebQuest will be very helpful because students can learn about different sports all over the world and the countries where these sports are practiced. For example: a map in which students click in a specific country and they will find the most popular sports there and also information of the most relevant information about it.

  5. Webquest is a tool that helps teachers to approach different topics using their creativity and students `creativity too. According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest “They provide teachers with the opportunity to integrate Internet technology into the course curriculum by allowing students to experience learning as they construct their perceptions, beliefs, and values out of their experiences” Thus, students are involve in the leaning process which is one of the main aspects teachers want to develop in a class. Furthermore, webquest approach constructivism which is one of the most current teaching theories because it allows students to learn by themselves and develop their individual skills.
    Examples:
1- Web quest about a reading in which students developed different task in each chapter. Furthermore, Teacher can make emphasis in different areas depending on the task. The first part could develop grammar through questions, the second task could develop listening linking a video from you tube.
2- I would create a journal and add different questions for students, but I would not give them the answers I would give students links and they have to research in order to complete the journal.

  6. A way to make up lesson plans by using technology is through the creation of Webquests. It is a useful tool that teachers can use to organize different resources that are in the net in order to create a kind of lesson plan. First of all, educators have to invest time to look for different information in the net that can be useful for their webquests in order to add some of it and eliminate other. “For a WebQuest on tropical rain forests more than four dozen sites were book marked, but only ten were incorporated into the Quest.” (http://www.internet4classrooms.com/using_quest.htm) It is very important to mention that the teacher has the chance to make changes backward and forward in order to improve the webquest. . “Since curriculum is a creative process it's likely you will go back and forth between sections as your ideas clarify and the sparks fly.” (http://www.internet4classrooms.com/using_quest.htm) A way to apply webquest in the class could be to make students work in the topic the writing process. They have to write an essay at the end of the tasks but first they have to look the different information and examples that the teacher provides in the webquest. They learn about the writing process, watch different examples and make practice to have the final result of an essay.

  7. Webquest are safe according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest “A WebQuest activity presents students with access to a plethora of resources that have been pre-screened by the WebQuest's creator” So, if teachers create the web quest, it would have educational links. So, those links would help students to develop skills and review topics. Teachers and parents can feel secure because students are not going to waste their time in websites that have negative content. Besides that, Teachers could use a lot of webquest that are on the official page.
    Examples:
1- I would create a Webquest in the unit of tourism and national attractions because there are a lot of websites where students could find good information. However, It is important that teachers review the links while they study this topic and they could be sure that are educational. So, students could look at maps and find the location of national attractions.
2- I would create a kind of rally in which students work in groups to accomplish the tasks and obtain points for that.

  8. The process of making a webquest has made me think in the numerous benefits students can obtain from it. Students can find since information, images, videos, websites, and documents. So, there are many ways to get information . Moreover, it is relevant that the information students are studying has been classified by the teacher previously. As the web site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest assures “ WebQuests can be designed to be an effective use of student time by being organized and focused on using information instead of searching for it” Thus, students can take advantages of the fact that the information they need to complete the task is already searched. In this way, students will not get lost on internet looking for the information, they just have to read it and make the tasks teacher has designed for that information.
I will use this tool to review a topic. So, teacher can create a webquest including extra information in the webquest, of course, information that links with the material taught in classes. Real information taken from websites in which students can realize that the knowledge they have about any topic is applicable to the reality.
Also, I will use it to give extra exercises to students. You are teaching any topic and in the webquest you can lend students extra vocabulary, grammar exercises and homework for a certain date. In this way, students can be making their homework and if they have doubts, they can look for answers in the same webquest they don’t have to search a lot.

  10. Teachers are always looking for new ideas, new materials, and new ways of approaching students’ learning. The internet and multiple software have been created to meet this expectative. WebQuest is one example of program that teachers can use because as the video said, “WebQuest is an inquiry oriented project”. ‘Focus is on understanding a concept through the use of the Internet. Students have met the objective when they have gathered information and are able to show what they have learned.’ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest). Therefore, it becomes very useful because students practice the studied lessons in oriented activities in which they use their knowledge of the topic to achieve a task. From my teacher perspective, this program addresses the issue of creating significant learning because most students always wonder themselves why do they need to learn a topic and how it could be useful for them. Using WebQuest then is an interactive tool that approaches students to use the learned language by researching, studying, and participating in activities. In my personal experience, I had not worked with this program before I was introduced to it in class. I can see how effective it could be due to the different ways of evaluating students learning. It innovates tests and assignments by putting them in the web and making them more attractive. As a teacher, I would use WebQuest for evaluating a topic; it could be a kind of quiz that students have to take by using the learned topic to complete a specific task. Then, students would have more time to work on the project, do research if necessary, or ask the teacher. Since it is on the web, it facilitates students to navigate on websites looking for information. Another way of using WebQuest on my lessons is to using it in my class, instead of worksheets; I think I can create a WebQuest, in which by using a projector, students can see what they are supposed to work on in class. So instead of making materials, I can save money and make a more attractive activities for students to develop in class.

  11. In the apparently eternal search for the best way to teach, the "best" method, the greatest exercises, here comes the Webquest. By using a webquest the search seems to be arriving to an end, since with this tool we can adapt our lessons, it does not matter the subject because on the internet we can find literally anything! As presented by Dr. Bernie Dodge, when referring to the information used in webquests, he said that, "some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the Internet..." Therefore, in the case that professors and students have access to a computer and the internet, this amazing tool can start working for an infinite range of possible aims. For instance, I would use webquests for:
    - Extra class activities, homework, extra information, extra exercises
    - In a webquest-based course:, meaning that the tool would be the means from which students and teacher would have the chance to interact and share information.

  12. Based on this video web questing provides a vast world of possibilities to develop a lesson plan. Nowadays in the internet there are a lot of different activities for the students to follow and interact with the recourses that the internet offers. By creating a webquest professor could find a way to call the attention of the students.
According to wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest “They provide teachers with the opportunity to integrate Internet technology into the course curriculum by allowing students to experience learning as they construct their perceptions, beliefs, and values out of their experiences”. As we know the internet is full of positive reinforcements to the students, because they find more appealing to theirs eyes monitors than blackboards. Accessing a webquest presents a method to debate, acquire information or solve some problems. With this tool the professor acts like a filter of information providing the students with the essential information that they will need to complete the quest.
In my class I will use webquest to:
-To topics that are based on building vocabulary such as: classroom objects, describing people, etc.
-To a homework that I need to lead students through out the different steps about the topic.

  13. A couple days ago my best friend came home to have a BBQ and to watch a football soccer match. He is a 43 old teacher who has been teaching Physical Education in a Costa Rica technological public high school for about 14 years. As usual, we talked about so many topics; one of the topics was the monotony some teachers experience in class through the years. He said he was tired to teach always the same and in the same way. I let him know about some electronic tools, specifically Webquest, he could incorporate to the teaching-learning process, so he, as well as his pupils, doesn’t get tired about studying the topics the same way over and over - finishing up hating the school.
Technical tools, such as Webquest, are useful resources to make classes more dynamic and attractive for students and teachers. Webquest, as pointed out in http://www.internet4classrooms.com/why_webquest.htm, promotes, critical thinking, cooperative learning, authentic assessment, and technology integration.
I proposed my friend some ideas about how to teach Physical Education differently by using Webquest. At first, he was a little bit frightened about using technology because he is not so handy with it. The good thing about this tool, I explained him, is that it can be created using various programs, including a simple word processing document that includes links to websites (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest). Therefore, WEbQuest can be created by anyone with low knowledge about computers and the use of the Internet. Of course its creation requires planning (objectives and little searching), but this is not an obstacle for a professional teacher since planning is the same basic requirement to teach any lesson.
In the case of teaching English, which is the subject I am more familiar with, Webques can be use as a complement for basically any topic studied in the class since we can get information about any topic through the Web.
For instance, let’s suppose that the topic for this week is “Life and achievements of famous athletes and musicians” (9th grade). First, the teacher must think about what he/she wants to get from the students. Then, the teacher incorporates some web links for the students to take a look, so all students get the same information. Example of the web pages are: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GeNUO2YT2s4 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%A9_Capmany
Here students can read about Costa Rican musician José Capmany and even hear one of his song examples. Then, students can write a paper reaction about his song (reasons students like or dislike this song)
Another example about the use of Webquest in the class can be related to the topic “Computers and technology today in our lives” (9th grade). The teacher can provide the students with web pages like: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=2&ved=0CCcQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Ffaculty.ksu.edu.sa%2Fsaad%2FDocuments%2FCALL%2520Advantages%2520and%2520disadvantages.pdf&rct=j&q=computers%20and%20technology%20today%20pdf&ei=ZiiPTpnxA8aWtweR_qCNDA&usg=AFQjCNHnfUCV1fVOKs0XazHgzTvwmry_Zg&cad=rja
Then, students prepare an oral presentation about the topic.

  14. “Communication techniques for teaching”, that’s the name of the course we are currently taking, so far we’ve been talking about many possible ways of interacting with technological tools to better the teaching learning process of a language; English. Now we found the challenge of creating a webquest which is a way of collecting information for a specific group of students and with an objective in mind. I consider that the use of websites like a webquest is an interesting resource we as teacher can include in our plans and make the classes more dynamic.
The main point of creating a webquest is to guide the student through a process in which they take a journal made by the professor supported by different sources in order to achieve a specific goal, by acquiring new input and using it in exercises. Also one of the advantages of using webquests for students is that find the information is less time consuming.. “WebQuests can be designed to be an effective use of student time by being organized and focused on using information instead of searching for it” students can use the time they would use looking for the information practicing and using the language.
In my personal experience, I would use webquest as a complement of what is taught is classes. Mainly because during the time students are in school we should reinforce the production part (speaking/ writing) and use less time practicing structures and rules. Because, if the students understand what the grammatical structure is about with few examples and the explanation of the professor, they can later in class practice them producing and using the language by themselves. So the webquest would be like extra-practice of the topics studied in class for the students to fully understand the theory. I would also use the webquest as assignation of extra-class work for students, in which they would have to complete all the exercises proposed in the site in order to get all the points.
In conclusion, there are several ways of using technology to enhance the teaching process as an example we have webquests “they provide teachers with the opportunity to integrate Internet technology into the course curriculum by allowing students to experience learning as they construct their perceptions, beliefs, and values out of their experiences” all we have to do is research and find the more suitable way.

Using webquests represents a challenge for students more than for teacher. It is an easy way to create something different but one of the requests is that students should “have met the objective when they have gathered information and are able to show what they have learned” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest) so it is important to clearly state the information given in class as well as the guideline of the tasks presented on it. It is important to point out that they present a particular form to introduce different topics indirectly related to the main content because “Webquests at the secondary level can be used across the curriculum.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebQuest) So it is another way to introduce different topics. One relevant characteristic that I really like about Webquests, is the fact that they provide an outline on how to organize the information (introduction, task, process, evaluation, and conclusion (http://www.internet4classrooms.com/using_quest.htm)) in a way that leads students to climb each knowledge step orderly.
In education, as an example, I would use it as a summary of the information provided in class, just like a practice for a test in which students would have time to work at home and make a review of all the materials studied in class. For instance, another way to use it is to introduce a topic. I would assign a homework in which students are going to have to learn something about what is to come. In that way students will use their previous knowledge and relate the information presented in the Webquest with it or if they do not know anything about the topic, they would get an idea of what it is.

  17. In my opinion, a WebQuest is an innovative tool in the teaching and learning process because it allows an ACTIVE combination between online information and the production of materials. I capitalized the word ACTIVE due a WebQuest is used not only to look for information on the web and use it on a written work; it lets students get involved actively in the process by all its steps, which keeps their motivation and increases their knowledge while they come up with creative ideas to solve a task. As mentioned by Wikipedia, “WebQuests can be designed to be an effective use of student time by being organized and focused on using information instead of searching for it”

Hence, students take advantage of a relevant resource (internet) while working on valuable products for their class and themselves.

Two ways in which I will use WebQuest are:

    - Students produce materials for a pronunciation class to practice pronunciation pairs.

    - For a specific topic, students create a museum with biographies of outstanding people through history.

  18. Since nowadays there is an increasing number of computers in schools and Internet connectivity is becoming more available for teaching purposes . Teachers must find ways to "transform" the learning income for our students, by using webquests this approach allows to effectively increase the interactivity, in an innovative method, of how a specific topic can be approached. By using this pedagogical strategies we are incorporating these new tools into instruction that allow students creativity as well to adapt to many of their educational needs as it oriented to activities in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the Internet. It is all about doing something with the information. The "thinking" can be critical also since its problem solving, judgment, analysis, or synthesis. The task has to be more than simply answering questions or following what is required. The most appealing idea for me is working outside the school walls.
